St Brigids PS

Walk to School week was a complete success at St. Brigid’s PS, Mayogall. As well as friends and families walking every day, on Tuesday we Walked our Pets to school! These were pets of the soft, stuffed and cuddly variety of course! On Thursday we had a European day. All the pupils made a flag of a European country that they had visited or liked and they were all carried proudly the whole way to school! It was reminiscent of the opening of the Olympics with all the different flags and colours. Special prizes were given out on these days as well as pencils and stickers throughout the week. It was a week of learning as well, we took photos of the carpark on the days we walked and we noticed a stark difference in the amount of traffic congestion compared to an ordinary ‘school run’ morning. We learned about all the positive issues of walking to school, not only it being the healthy thing to do but the right thing to do for our environment. All in all we walked a total of 987 St Brigid’s miles – WOW!!! Each class is marking how far this would take us as the crow flies on maps, somewhere exotic maybe?
