St Dominic's held a Walk to School Day (the Big Walk) on Friday 23rd of May and invited pupils from Years 8-11 to participate. Over 100 pupils participated on the day.  Those who lived far from the school were encouraged to select a meet- up point to walk from, for example those crossing the city were encouraged to walk from Belfast City centre to the school, those in West Belfast were encouraged to arrange a meeting point of class / walking group choice, with the length of the walk dependent on pupil age.

The school presented pupils with Big Walk Participation cards to acknowledge pupils' involvement in the event.  The event was advertised in school (Pastoral Notice board) and on the front page of the school website (with both an advance notice of the event entry and a banner entry after the event to congratulate those pupils who had taken part in the 'Big Walk').
