Ballymagee Primary School

This is the first year that we have taken part in Walk to School Week.

This year, we have been working hard to promote a healthy lifestyle and to raise awareness of the need to look after our bodies and also the world in which we live. Walk to School Week gave us another opportunity to communicate this important message and it was wonderful to see so many families taking part.

We decided to use the Friday as a novelty walk to school day and in order to go along with the theme of 'Save the Planet', we encouraged the children to walk to school in superhero costume. We gave them the option of coming to school as a fictional superhero, a real life hero, or a superhero of their own creation. It was fantastic to see the children making such an effort with their fancy dress, particularly those who had made their own costumes from recycled materials and called themselves 'Planet Girl/Boy. Children who had made an exceptional effort in each year group were awarded certificates and prizes.
