Teachers Resources
The Best Foot Forward For Schools programme consists of teacher led classroom and home based activities and has been developed under the guidance of the School Travel Advisory Group in partnership with the Department of Education, CCEA and DOE Road Safety.
The initial BFFFS programme was piloted with 27 schools in 2004 and has been independently evaluated by Stranmillis University College, this involved wide consultation with teachers, pupils and parents and helped inform the development of this new BFFFS Resource pack.
The programme is aimed at key stage two (children aged 7 to 11) and it will be delivered using a Teacher Information and Activity resource pack, which contains activity booklets, guidance notes, an interactive CD-ROM and posters.
The programme resources are supported by a campaign mascot, ‘Freddie’ who helps to teach the key messages of the programme to children in a fun and informative way.
Because of the direct links to a range of curriculum subjects including English, Mathematic, Science and Technology, Information and Communication Technology, Geography, Art and Design and Physical Education, teachers have found that the BFFFS programme is both a learning and enjoyable experience for both themselves and pupils alike.
